The Excellence: For over 13 years, Clo’eT's Marimo have been a benchmark of excellence for the quality of raw materials and the advancement of cultivation systems, developed with full respect for the environment. Within Clo’eT's Marimo Farm, continuous studies and research have allowed us to define a proprietary standard, which includes traceability, sustainability, and phytosanitary control.

Its home, an ecological choice: a PET jar with an aluminum hermetically sealed lid. PET is a plastic with an infinite lifecycle because it can be recycled (R-PET). It is an ecological choice: leading to a reduction of 138,000 tons of greenhouse gases by saving 50% of energy. Recycling PET means a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions EVEN COMPARED TO GLASS! Be ecological, be green!

Its seal. Since January 31, 2018, all Marimo by Clo’eT products have been marked with a black seal, placed under the lid, certifying the originality and quality of our work. This choice follows unfortunate counterfeiting events and the uncontrolled spread of imitation algapalla passed off as Marimo to your detriment.

If you want it to be true... make sure it's the original!

Clo’eT design ships Marimo without water in the container for its safety and integrity.

The jar has an airtight seal and retains the necessary humidity throughout the journey, which we mist inside before departure.
This allows us to ship the Marimo in all seasons, even in summer, without risks to its health. Once it arrives at its destination, it will be your responsibility to immerse it in water.

Clo’eT design ships the Marimo without water in the jar to ensure its safety and integrity during the journey.

When it arrives, open the packaging and take it out with clean hands. Fill the jar with fresh and clean water (if you want to pamper it: 2/3 still water and 1/3 sparkling), then gently insert the Marimo.
Close the lid and place it in a bright location but without direct sunlight. Welcome to the Club!

Is it a gift and you won't deliver it immediately?
If the Marimo is not an immediate gift, you can store it in the refrigerator, in its closed gift box, in the dark and without water.
Thanks to the moisture present in the jar, the low temperature, and the absence of light, the Marimo slows down its metabolism and remains "on pause" without suffering.

It can remain like this for up to 3 weeks in perfect condition.

If you need to wait longer, you can add fresh water to the jar and store it in the refrigerator, closed and in the dark, until the time of delivery.

WATER CHANGE - EVERY 10 DAYS

Very simple!
You empty the water, squeeze the Marimo, rinse the jar, add fresh water, roll it in the palm of your hand, and plunge it back inside.

1/3 SPARKLING WATER AND 2/3 STILL WATER

Clo'eT recommends a mixture of ⅓ sparkling water and ⅔ still water with each change, for a specific reason: sparkling water contains carbon dioxide (CO₂), a source of nourishment that helps the Marimo grow healthily.
Algae, like all aquatic plants, absorb CO₂ during photosynthesis: it's a simple but essential gesture for its well-being. It's the practical application of a biological principle, translated into an everyday practice accessible to all

Temperature – Never above 24°C

The Marimo is a cold-water algae: it thrives between 4°C and 22-23°C but struggles in heat.
Higher temperatures slow down photosynthesis, weaken it, and, over time, deteriorate it. For this reason, Clo'eT recommends keeping it away from heat sources and, in summer,
storing it in the refrigerator: it's a simple, natural, and safe way to protect it.
And no, it shouldn't be worn as a necklace.
The body temperature is about 36.5°C: far from a cuddle... it would be a certain death.

Summer

Clo’eT strongly recommends keeping the Marimo in the refrigerator during the summer, remembering not to eat it and to change the water every 10 days. The heat boils it! With high temperatures, indeed, the Marimo slows down photosynthesis, weakens, and discolors, turning white.

Going on vacation?

Change the water before you leave, keep it cool, and enjoy your vacation.
Upon your return, another water change... and it's like new.

Sun - NO
Do not expose the Marimo jar to direct sunlight: it would increase the internal temperature.

Keep it away from heat sources.
Always check the color of its surface: it should never show white, yellow, gray, or brown spots.
Not afraid of the dark
The Marimo lives on the seabed, where little light reaches, and tolerates dimly lit environments. That's why it can comfortably stay in the refrigerator in the summer. But be careful: it loves light and makes us dream with its slow, round dance when it meets it.

All Marimo by Clo’eT are equipped with a PASSPORT/PLANT PASSPORT, a fundamental document that certifies their health and compliance with phytosanitary regulations, as required by the Regulation (EU) 2016/2031.

Clo’eT Design SRL holds a double certification, both registration with the RUOP (Official Register of Professional Operators) and authorization to issue plant passports. These certifications provide an important guarantee for our customers, offering the assurance of receiving plants that are strictly controlled and comply with the highest quality standards.

Registration with RUOP: our registration with the Official Register of Professional Operators certifies our qualification as professional operators in the field of plants and plant products.
Authorization to Issue Plant Passports: in addition to being registered with the RUOP, we are authorized to issue plant passports. This authorization allows us to directly certify the compliance of our plants with phytosanitary regulations, ensuring that they are free from pests and diseases and comply with all current regulations.
